WOOTTENS IN THE NEWS Report From The Bucks Examiner - November 5th, 1999 NEW COACH FIRM KEEPS ROVER LINK A COACH company from Princes Risborough has moved to fill the gap following the closure of Chesham-based Rover Luxury Travel. Woottens Luxury Travel has taken over the Coach Yard, Lycrome Road. Operations manager Michael Wootten said his firm had built its trade on school contracts, private hire and day excursions. "We are interested in providing a quality service," he said. "All of my life I have been interested in the coach business and I was an admirer of Rover for many years." "When John Dell, the owner of Rover Luxury Travel, decided to retire, we spotted there was a gap in the market, so moving here really is a bit of a dream come true." Mr Wootten and his associates are operating a policy of continuity, utilising the expertise of the well-known local Dell family. Jo Scarbrow, Mr Dell's daughter, has been appointed operations administrator and John Dell also keeps his hand in on the road by doing the odd spot of driving. Chief engineer Ron Gomm, a stalwart from the Rover days, has been retained and coach drivers Ken Bristow and Ron Clarke are also still on the books. According to Mrs Scarbrow, "We were concerned that the business on-site should continue in good hands and my family are delighted with the principles of Woottens Luxury Travel." Woottens operate a fleet of six coaches at present, including a new executive vehicle, and there are plans to expand the business. "We are trying very hard, with the support of local people, to make a go of it here. I am delighted to have the support of the Dell family", added Michael Wootten.
